Recovering From my First Week Back

by - Sunday, January 10, 2016

I dove into my first week back at work after a two week vacation perhaps a little too intensely. It was one of those work hard, play way too hard weeks.

New year, new planner. Bring it on 2016!

I don't think I got to bed before 11:30 or midnight any night this week, which is so not like me. And seeing as how I'm usually up by 5:30 to be in the office by 7, it was maybe not the smartest way to start off the New Year.

It sure was a ton of fun though.

But, when I woke up Friday morning with the telltale scratchy throat and stuffy nose signaling a head cold, I can't say I was surprised. Between the lack of sleep and the crazy temperature changes, it's not really surprising I caught a cold.

Getting a cold on a Friday is equal parts awful and secretly not so bad.

It's awful because it means most of my weekend plans (and running plans) were getting thrown out the window in favor of staying home and trying to recover and catch up on sleep.

But it's secretly not so bad because I spent Friday night curled up on the sofa binge watching Making a Murderer. I have so many thoughts on this show. If you liked season one of Serial, you will love Making a Murderer.

I woke up Saturday morning feeling much better, which was awesome since I had my first flag football game of the season. We won by the mercy rule. I also got to meet my brand new baby cousin Tyler at the game.

Look who I got to meet at my flag football game this morning. #TylerJohn

He's about 10 days old and pretty adorable.

By Saturday night I was feeling less than ideal again, so I canceled my original plans and just chilled and watched football playoffs instead. I probably could have gone out, but figured if I didn't rest up and nip this thing in the bud, I was going to be on a miserable downward spiral of sickness, and quite frankly, I just don't have time for that.

So I mainly enjoyed a low key weekend, and if I can get rid of this last bit of stuffy nose action and actually be able to breath again, I'll be all set to go to start off a new week on a good note.
