About

Hi and welcome to my little corner of the Internet! My name is Jess, and I’m a twenty-something currently living in Washington, D.C. I’m a runner, rec league sports all-star, and lover of all things food, fitness and fun!

#tbt this weekend four years ago when I set my marathon PR at my hometown race @Philly_Marathon and ate a delicious Philly pretzel afterward.I love training for races of all different distances, although the half marathon is my favorite, and I’m border-line obsessed with my many rec league softball teams. (I also play flag football and volleyball).

softballI’m not fast, and I’ll certainly never win any races, but I love running because crossing the finish line makes me feel like I accomplished something.

Aside from running and my rec league sports, I’m a huge fan of the University of Maryland Terrapins.

Sorry ladies, he's taken. #thinkB1G #testudolove @umterps

I graduated from UMD in December 2007 and still make it back to campus for several sporting events each season. In fact, I have season tickets to football and basketball. Tailgating is definitely my favorite fall activity.

But my love of sports isn’t isolated to the Terps. Since I grew up outside of Philly, I obviously cheer for all the Philly teams, which is tricky living in DC since everyone’s a rival!

In my day job, I work in digital media and strategic communications for a government agency. Basically that means blogging, Facebook and Twitter are a huge part of my full-time job, and sometimes I get to visit the White House. It’s a fun gig.

Chillin' at the White House with some @usgsa and Census peeps.

I’m also going back to school part-time to get my MBA. When people ask me why, I half-jokingly tell them it’s so I can rule the world one day.

Aside from my fitness and sports antics, you might also see the cuties below making some guest appearances on the blog from time to time.

Got to spend my day off at story time with Abby, Cameron and Patrick. My cousins are the cutest.

I’m lucky enough to live close to my cousins, who have some of the most adorable kids around, and I love spending time with them. (Please promise you won’t put me on STFUParents.)

Overall, I’m all about having fun and enjoying life while still being healthy. Health and fitness shouldn’t be a chore, it should be fun! Because as I like to say, “Life is funner, with a runner!”
