Solid week of training
So far this week has gone really well training wise. Got up every morning at 7 to run or cross-train(except Monday and today because I didn't have to be at work. So Monday I got up at 8 to run and today....I'll get around to cross-training at some point), and there have been no major aches and pains.
Tomorrow is distance day and frankly I'm a little nervous. I've got 8 miles scheduled, but with time off because of injuries and stuff I don't know how that's going to go. My mom keeps telling me I should back off and do less than 8, but I'm afraid if I do that I'll fall even farther behind than I already am. Although if I do the 8, I risk getting hurt again. So I'm in a bit of a pickle. I guess my plan for now is to plan on doing the 8 and then just seeing how it goes when I'm out there. If I'm feeling good I'll do the whole thing. If not, I can always shorten the workout. I do not want to be laid up with another injury because as you know from a previous post, that frustrates the heck out of me.
In other exciting news, my first story that I wrote for my internship was published today, on the front page of the section!!! Here's a link to it, but it looks much prettier in the actual paper with all the pictures so I recommend looking at it there if you can.: http://www.mcall.com/features/custom/hg/all-hg-h-tassels-061606,0,6062821.story. (I'm no good at HTML coding, so just copy and paste it into your little web address bar).
Alright, that's all I've got for now. I'm making a little vow to try to update this thing more often. I used to be so good about it!

A little note for tomorrow:
ReplyDeleteLISTEN TO YOUR BODY! If you start to feel that you can't go much further, you should really slow it down or stop. Easier said than done when training. But, like you said, if you don't you may fall further behind in your training; but if you do and injure yourself, you may fall two, three, four times further behind while waiting to recoup. If it makes you feel better, I have to do the same tomorrow, but only 6.5 miles. I be looking for your next post on how your 8 miles went...or didn't! Either way, good luck and run smart! :)
