I'm back
Hey bloggie peeps! I'm back from my vacation to the wonderful Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Got in last night and promptly passed out. Driving for 7.5 hours is exhausting.
I have tons and tons of pictures that I hope to get uploaded soon. We had a wonderful time enjoying the sun, sand and surf. And major bonus points to me for only picking up mild sunburn. (I'm pasty white and burn pretty easily.)
Some quick highlights:
We left at 5 a.m. to start the drive down and made amazing time.
South of the Border signs are horribly racist.
South of the Border itself is just creepy. We didn't stop. I refuse.
Our loft was gorgeous and the complex had a lazy river, heated pool, fitness center and shuttle to the beach.
I ran 3.22 miles Sunday morning and 5 miles Monday morning. It was HOT!
Took a yoga class Tuesday at the fitness center. It was geared toward senior citizen and all done in a lying position.
I kicked booty in mini-golf. Won by 10 strokes and had two holes in one.
Went to bed early every night and woke up early every morning. I love life at the beach.
Some of the girls and I drove back yesterday. We left later and got back later and got stuck in traffic on the way home. The ride was much less enjoyable. Now I'm home and it's back to the grind.
Half marathon training kicked off for the BF this week and so far he's hit all of his runs. Go him! I'm working on developing our training plans. I know what they'll be in my head, just a matter of getting them on paper.
Vacation pictures to come soon.

Welcome baaaack!
ReplyDeleteWelcome Back, sister!
ReplyDeleteUgh! South of the Border is still in business? I was hoping maybe they'd gone under by now. Teh 'Bride and I once vaykayed (maybe 9 years ago) at the beach in SC (you're right! it's great!) and those SotB signs started like 150 miles before you got to the place.
And the place really is creepsville (making Carolina Cletus's lair only the second creepiest place in SC).
Good to have you back, sister. Way to get the runs and yoga in!
Except for the sheer number, couldn't be any worse then the "live entertainment" signs on the way to Orlando/Tampa in Florida. Jeeez... Give it a rest!
ReplyDeleteWay to let your money do the talkin!
Glad you had such a nice vacation! Can't wait to see the pics!

ReplyDeletemyrtle has it's good points, but most south carolina people hate it. including me. i much prefer charleston or savannah when heading to the coast, but those are even farther from you. Virginia beach is great too and it's a little closer. but that's just my preference.
ReplyDeleteif you can get past all of the tourist traps at mb, there are some good times to be had there. we also usually stay at broadway when we go down there. some of the nightclubs at broadway are a blast, i took a piss in that river one time too. i was quite drunk.
if you get too far away from the ocean or a nice golf course you'll find that the city is crawling with some of the worst stereotyped rednecks in sc. i'm glad you didn't have to deal with any of that. sounds like you had fun, that's all that matters.
glad you had a fun weekend and safe travels. i'm with carolina john, being from sc myself. charleston/beaufort/edisto are much cooler :) myrtle is a good time though with friends, i'm more of a lazy-days on the beach type of vacationer though.
