Klutzy McGee goes to work
After Monday's Metro crash, I worked from home Tuesday because I couldn't get into the office. Full service still hasn't been restored to the my line on the Metro so since Tuesday night I've been staying at the BF's and doing about an hour and 10 minute commute from his house because the Metro line he lives closest too is working fine. That long of a commute is crappy, but the Metro was telling people to add between 30 minutes to an hour to their normal commute time if the were Red Line users. That would have pushed my get to work time anywhere from and hour and a half to two hours. Not cool.
Wednesday was desk moving day in the office because we got a new member of our team. So I got to move on up to a bigger desk. In the process of moving I was sitting on top of my desk trying to screw a cabinet shelf into place. After being proud of myself for completing it without problem, I went to hop off the desk. Swung my legs around and WHACK. Knee connects with corner of cabinet.
I hobbled around my office for a while until the pain subsided, but my knee was nagging me the rest of the day yesterday.
It seems to be OK now though. I'm such a klutz sometimes.
I'm hoping I'm not too drained when I get home from work tonight because I'd like to get a run in. Waking up at 5 a.m. to make sure I get to work on time is rough though and dealing with rush hour traffic once I got off the Metro left me drained yesterday. Cross your fingers for me that I'm not beat so I can at least get something short in tonight.
I'm hoping by next week things with the Metro will have calmed down and I can go back to my normal routine.

oh wow i bet that knee hurts. Bigun dropped a bath toy on my toe last night and it was killing me. not cool, man. not cool.
ReplyDeleteI whacked my knee yesterday on a chair that's always been in my bedroom! Ouch!
ReplyDeleteHope your commute, and your knee, get better soon!
Gah I hate when I randomly hurt myself...I hope it's feeling better!
ReplyDeleteI totally feel you on the commute...I used to commute about 1.5 hours each way to school (via the train!), and it was miserable some days. Luckily I could kind of study about half the time.
Hope they restore the Metro lines soon! And smacking a knee like that would totally be something I'd do!
ReplyDeleteUgh, that really sucks about your commute issues AND hitting your knee!! When you randomly whack something (knee, elbow, shin) it hurts SO SO bad!!!
ReplyDeleteHope your commuting issues are sorted out soon!
