DC Dwelling: High Heel Race
Every year right around Halloween, the annual high heel race takes place in DuPont in DC. Tons of men in their most fabulous drag costumes run several blocks down 17th Street in their stilettos in front of thousands of cheering spectators.
My friend Laurie has an apartment that overlooks the start line, so last night Emily and I headed over to enjoy some dinner before the race festivities got started.

Afterward we wandered outside to watch the parade of costumed men strutting their stuff up 17th Street to get to the start line.
There is only one word to describe the whole night. It was obviously fabulous.
Here are just a few of the many, many pictures I took.

If you're a DC dweller, have you ever been to the high heel race? If you're from anywhere else, does your town have anything like this?

That is beyond fabulous! Can I be a little jealous, though, that all of those men look better in their heels than I do? :)
ReplyDeleteI've never been in DC but it looks awesome, and yes, something like this would go over quite well in SF!
ReplyDeleteSome of those guys look a little too comfortable out there. Our town doesn't have anything like that, but I would certainly participate if there was such a beast.
ReplyDeleteI love the high heels race. Sadly, we missed it this year.
ReplyDeleteThis is so funny! What a great event! Can't imagine running in heels though.
