I Will Never Get Tired of Running this City
There is no better view on a run than the monuments lit up at night with the faint twinkling of light bouncing off the Reflecting Pool.
I'm lucky and grateful for every day I can be out running in this city.
Sure I have plenty of complaints about DC (like the nonstop traffic, the tourists in the summertime and the people who don't understand "stand right, walk left" on the metro escalators).
But there's something kind of magical about running the monuments at night.
I met up with a friend the other night (pictures in this post from his phone, since I didn't take mine) for a slow and easy run around the Mall. Our running time was about 35 minutes, but we were probably out there for closer to an hour, between the traffic lights, our stretch break and pausing to snap some pictures and admire the view.
To me, it's a view that will never get old.
What's your favorite part about running in your city?

We do the same route at sunrise, but the sunset is gorgeous too!
ReplyDeleteThat really is beautiful! Last time I was in DC was when I was a young girl, I'd love to return and run it!
ReplyDeleteOne day I want to run there. I've been to DC many, many times, but never had the chance to run. I think it would be so fun!
ReplyDeleteThat is gorgeous! I live in NYC and running along the water or over the bridges (early mornings before the tourists get there!) is always inspiring. I'm going to DC for the Half and the Cherry Blossom 10M so I'm excited to run on the mall :)
ReplyDeletethat is really cool. Great view, and great part of the country to run in. And apparently a new guy to run with? is this something new?
ReplyDeleteHaha nope it's nothing new. I've been running with this kid for a while now. We're just running buddies, nothing more. In fact, he has a girlfriend.
ReplyDeleteThis makes me miss running in DC! I can't complain about running in SF though, every day I run along the water with amazing views of the Golden Gate bridge. I don't think I'll ever get tired of that.
ReplyDeleteRuns in DC are all so pretty....such a great backdrop! The bridges in NYC always make me happy because it's a great view of the city.
